4.2. Purpose and Scope of Lifecycle Activities

💡 First Principle: Knowing each activity's purpose — the one thing it exists to accomplish — lets you place any real piece of work into the lifecycle and understand what it's for, which is exactly what the exam's recall questions test.

Why care: teams often blur activities ("we're just building stuff"), losing sight of whether they're truly discovering demand or prematurely building. Clear purposes keep work honest. The mental model: pair the activities into four natural couples and learn the purpose of each.

⚠️ Common Misconception: That "deliver" and "support" are the same post-launch activity. They're distinct — deliver is ongoing provision against agreed levels; support is handling issues and requests.
