Before a single ITIL term, start with the problem the whole framework exists to solve. Everything in ITIL — the dimensions, the lifecycle, the value system, the practices — is a structured answer to one question: how do organizations reliably create value for other people using technology, when the work is too big and too complex for any one person to hold in their head?
