4.2.3. Transition and Operate

💡 First Principle: Transition is about moving something safely into live use; operate is about keeping it running well — the "go live, then run it" pair.

The purpose of transition is to move new or changed products and services into the live environment safely, ensuring they're ready and risks are managed (testing, release, deployment readiness). The purpose of operate is to manage and run the products and services in live use so they perform as intended day to day.

⚠️ Exam Trap: Transition is the move into production; operate is the ongoing running once there. Don't conflate the one-time-per-change transition with continuous operation.

Reflection Question: Why is a careful "transition" activity especially important given that the lifecycle is iterative and changes happen often?
