2.1.7. Servers

Servers are endpoints with a job: they provide services that other devices consume. Your DHCP server hands out IP addresses. Your DNS server resolves names. Your web server hosts your intranet.

From a network perspective, servers have special requirements: they need higher bandwidth (multiple NICs, 10G+), higher availability (redundant paths, NIC teaming), and often live in secured segments (data center VLANs with extra ACLs).

Network services you'll configure: DHCP, DNS, NTP, RADIUS/TACACS+, syslog, SNMP, TFTP/FTP
