5.2. Electrical Equipment and Devices

💡 First Principle: Electrical facial devices amplify treatment results by using electrical energy to achieve effects that products and manual techniques cannot. The trade-off is that electrical energy also amplifies risk — the same mechanisms that make these devices effective also make them capable of harm when used on contraindicated clients.

The exam tests what each device does and when it cannot be used. Knowing the specific contraindications for electrical devices is especially important because they appear frequently in scenario questions.

⚠️ Common Misconception: Electrical facial devices are low-risk "add-ons" to any facial. In reality, devices that penetrate or stimulate electrically carry medical-grade contraindications — particularly for clients with pacemakers, pregnancy, or certain implanted devices.
