4.3. Client Consultation and Contraindications
💡 First Principle: The client consultation is the professional decision-making process, not a formality. The information gathered during intake and skin analysis determines whether you can provide the requested service, whether you need to modify it, and whether the client needs to see a physician first.
The exam will present scenarios describing clients with various conditions and ask what you should do. Applying the proceed/modify/decline framework consistently gets you through these questions.
⚠️ Common Misconception: The consultation is primarily about building rapport and selling services. While relationship-building matters, the core professional purpose is identifying contraindications before they become problems.
