4.5.2. Copilot for Sales and Copilot for Service

💡 First Principle: Copilot for Sales and Copilot for Service inject CRM context into the M365 experience. Without them, M365 Copilot knows what's in emails, documents, and meetings. With them, Copilot also knows what's in the CRM — deals, cases, customer history, pipeline status — and can take CRM actions directly from Teams, Outlook, and Word.

Copilot for Sales:
CapabilityWhat It DoesWhere It Works
Meeting intelligenceSummarizes sales calls, extracts action items, identifies mentioned competitorsTeams meetings
Email insightsSuggests email responses based on CRM context, surfaces deal statusOutlook
Deal roomAggregates all deal-related content (emails, docs, meetings) in one viewTeams
CRM updatesCreates/updates CRM records from conversationsOutlook, Teams
Copilot for Service:
CapabilityWhat It DoesWhere It Works
Case summarizationGenerates case summaries from conversation historyTeams, Outlook
Knowledge searchSurfaces relevant knowledge articles during service interactionsTeams, Outlook
Email draftsGenerates context-aware service responses using case dataOutlook
Service diagnosticsSurfaces related cases and known resolutionsTeams
Configuration Design Decisions:

The architect configures which CRM data sources Copilot can access, which actions it can take (read-only vs. create/update), and how CRM data is scoped (e.g., a sales rep's Copilot should access only their assigned accounts, not the entire CRM).

⚠️ Exam Trap: A question describes a company using Salesforce as their CRM but wanting to use Copilot for Sales. Copilot for Sales supports Salesforce integration — it's not limited to D365 Sales. Don't assume D365 is required.

Reflection Question: A sales team uses D365 Sales and wants Copilot to prepare pre-meeting briefings that include deal history, recent email exchanges, and competitor mentions from past meetings. Which Copilot for Sales features do you configure, and what data connectors are required?
