4.2. AI in Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain
Think of F&O AI features like autopilot in an airplane — they handle routine operational tasks (reconciling accounts, forecasting demand) while the human pilot makes strategic decisions. Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (F&O apps) take a different approach to AI than the CX/Service apps. Where CX apps emphasize conversational AI and agent interactions, F&O apps embed AI into operational processes — account reconciliation, demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and financial reporting.
The architect's challenge is orchestrating these AI features within the F&O environment, where data volumes are large, processes are transactional, and errors have direct financial consequences. The exam tests two specific skills: orchestrating AI features across F&O apps and designing knowledge sources for in-app help.
⚠️ Common Misconception: Copilot customizations in Dynamics 365 always require code. Many F&O Copilot features are configurable through admin settings and guided setup wizards — no development needed for standard scenarios. Code is only required when business logic diverges from what the standard configuration supports.
