6. Driving Business Outcomes with Agents

Exam domain: Drive business outcomes by using agents (20–25%). This whole domain is covered in this phase.

This domain is new in the October 2026 outline, and its focus is worth stating plainly: it tests whether you can choose and use agents to get business work done, not whether you can build them. You need to know which Microsoft-built agent fits which workflow, when a prebuilt agent isn't enough and a custom one is justified, how to call agents from the Copilot experiences you already use, and how to delegate multi-step work to Microsoft Copilot Cowork and supervise it safely. Building, configuring and publishing custom agents is no longer an exam objective. You only need the decision of whether to use one.
