2.4. Network Monitoring
You can't manage what you can't see. Azure provides multiple tools to monitor, troubleshoot, and secure your networks. The exam tests your ability to choose and use the right tool.
💡 First Principle: Network monitoring happens at multiple layers: connectivity (can packets flow?), performance (are they fast enough?), and security (are they allowed?). Different tools address different layers.
What breaks without monitoring: Outages go undetected. Performance degradation causes user complaints. Security incidents aren't discovered. Troubleshooting takes hours instead of minutes.
Think of network monitoring like a doctor's toolkit. You need different instruments to check different symptoms: a stethoscope for heartbeat (connectivity), blood pressure monitor for flow (performance), and blood tests for hidden issues (security logs).
