2.2.3. Azure DNS Private Resolver
DNS Private Resolver enables hybrid DNS scenarios by allowing conditional forwarding between Azure and on-premises.
Components:
| Component | Purpose | IP Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Inbound endpoint | On-premises forwards to Azure | Gets IP in your VNet |
| Outbound endpoint | Azure forwards to on-premises | Gets IP in your VNet |
| Forwarding ruleset | Defines conditional forwarding rules | Links to outbound endpoint |
Architecture:
When to Use:
- On-premises needs to resolve Azure Private DNS zones
- Azure needs to resolve on-premises DNS names
- You need centralized DNS forwarding rules
