5.3.4. Question Strategies

Each question type requires a different approach and time budget. These quick-reference strategies help you work through each format efficiently without overthinking.

Multiple Choice (30-45 seconds)

1. Read the question stem carefully
2. Eliminate obviously wrong answers
3. Choose the BEST answer (not just correct)
4. If unsure after 60 seconds, flag and move

Multiple Select (45-75 seconds)

1. Note exactly how many answers required
2. Find definite "yes" answers first
3. Verify you have the correct count

PBQs (5-7 minutes maximum)

1. Read ALL instructions first
2. Complete obvious parts immediately
3. Use Reset if confused
4. Partial credit > no credit
