Domain 1 is worth more than a third of the exam, and for good reason — it's the connective tissue that Domains 2 through 4 all assume you already have. Without this vocabulary locked in, scenario questions in later domains simply won't parse: you'll recognize the words but miss what's actually being asked. Think of Phase 1 as the map and this phase as learning the terrain that map represents in PMI's own language — the life-cycle detail, the planning documents, the roles, and the everyday tools an associate-level project team member is expected to recognize on sight. Where Phase 1 asked "what kind of thing am I looking at?", this phase asks "now that I know what it is, how do I actually work with it?" — and, as the ⚠️ Exam Traps ahead show, several of these terms get tested through confusion with a near-neighbor term, not through a plain definition question.
