7.1. Your Path Forward
The guide in four sentences. Agents are reasoning loops that act through tools, ground through retrieval, and scale through delegation (Phase 1). Integration means choosing where retrieval happens, which tool type matches what exists, which collaboration mechanism matches who owns the specialist, and which Azure layer to swap in (Phase 2). Planning is audience and consequences — identity, channels, governance — and configuration is deterministic structure: flows with parameter contracts and authored error handling, topics with two faces and scoped variables (Phase 3). Trust is engineered twice: evaluation batteries matched to answer variability, and ALM that ships the tested artifact unchanged (Phase 4).
Confidence checklist. Go in when you can honestly check these:
- I can pick the right knowledge source, tool type, multi-agent mechanism, and evaluation method from a scenario's cues alone (the 5.2 tables, without looking)
- I can explain why node-level sources override agent knowledge, why variables default to topic scope, and why the Default solution can't ship
- I can trace a value: conversation → flow input → flow output → topic variable → adaptive card, naming each mechanism
- I can design the dev → test → prod loop with evaluation gates, an approval, and a service principal — and defend it to an auditor
- I know what computer use costs (per step), what MCP saves (republishing), and what A2A crosses (platforms and organizations)
Next steps. Practice against the official objectives page before booking — Microsoft updates "skills measured" and the current version always wins a conflict with any study material, this guide included. Build one real agent end-to-end in a trial environment: nothing consolidates the exam's mental model like watching your own orchestrator pick the wrong tool and fixing the description yourself. Then work practice questions in bulk (your flashcard and question banks are the companion assets to this guide), reviewing every rationale — wrong options teach the boundaries that stems test.

Good luck — reason from first principles, and the exam becomes an open book you already wrote.
