About ServiceNow CSA Certification
ServiceNow CSA (Certified System Administrator) validates the foundational skills required to administer the ServiceNow platform. It is the prerequisite for every higher-level ServiceNow credential (CIS-ITSM, CIS-CSM, CAD, CTA), making it the right starting point for anyone targeting a ServiceNow career.
The exam is 90 minutes long with 60 questions. ServiceNow uses a scaled scoring model and does not publicly disclose the exact passing percentage. ServiceNow officially recommends 6 months of platform experience before attempting it, but many candidates pass with focused self-study using the free Personal Developer Instance (PDI) and the official ServiceNow Fundamentals on-demand training.
Career outcomes: CSA is the credential most ServiceNow administrator and developer job postings list as required or preferred. The platform is deployed at most Fortune 500 companies, and demand for certified ServiceNow professionals consistently outpaces supply, particularly in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, federal).
What you will study: user interface and navigation, lists and filters, forms and tables, ACLs and security, workflows and Flow Designer, the service catalog, knowledge management, reporting, importing and transforming data, and platform configuration. Hands-on practice on the free PDI is non-negotiable — most CSA exam questions assume you have actually performed the task.
